Our commitment to Accountability

Medi Foundation was Founded by Ismet Medi back in February 2020, a non-profit organization that aims to help people struggling with addiction by providing evidence-based, personalized care and support for their mental health and well-being.

Our programs and services have raised awareness  about addiction and related challenges, providing support to those in need. Over the last three years, we have helped many individuals through various forms of support, including counseling, mental health services, detoxing, and rehabilitation.

As of March 2023, we have expanded our help and services by forming a new committee in the Lefkosa area, which is the capital of the TRNC. We now have our head office in Magusa and a branch in Lefkosa. We are proud to be able to reach out and provide assistance to more people in the region.

Our team remains dedicated to providing support and resources to individuals struggling with addiction and mental health in the TRNC.

Our goal for 2023 to 2024 is to establish drop-in relief centers for alcohol and drug abuse in the TRNC to provide short-term support for individuals struggling with addiction, helping them control their habit and get sober, before recommending further treatment at hospitals, clinics, detox hospitals, and/or rehabilitation centers.

We are always looking for ways to expand and improve our services, and we are committed to making a positive impact in the lives of those who need it the most.

Over the course of our three years of operation, we have had the pleasure of working with several wonderful organizations as partners and sponsors, both governmental and non-governmental. Our collaborative efforts have been focused on helping individuals overcome addiction through education, seminars, events, workshops, and group meetings. We have also been active in promoting awareness on addiction and related issues, and have been working locally and nationally to support children and sports projects.

In 2021, we partnered with the Prime Ministry’s Anti-Drugs Commission to host a three-week event that featured workshops in various artistic disciplines, such as dance, music, plays, and pottery. The event culminated in a fantastic evening, where all workshop participants showcased their work in an outdoor area. This event was attended by local residents, tourists, and government officials, and it was the largest art, craft, music, dance, ceramic, and play event ever held in TRNC. The event was a big success in terms of helping people and raising awareness over the three-week period.

Our current focus is to be more hands-on, with one-to-one counseling on our own premises, as well as offering outpatient facilities, where we work closely with our team of professionals to assist in addiction recovery, provide education and prevention efforts, and raise awareness through our events, projects, and social media campaigns. Additionally, we will offer support for recovery after treatment, mental health, and overall well-being with the help of our professional staff.

We plan to expand our efforts by having our professionals provide educational programs in local schools for children, their families, and the teachers in those schools.

Additionally, we plan to collaborate more closely with local organizations and government offices to provide one-on-one and group sessions conducted by our team of psychologists, psychotherapists, counselors, and volunteers

2023 Funding Model

Since its establishment in February 2020, Medi Foundation has been funded primarily by its founder, Ismet Medi, who has provided 90% of the total funds used by the foundation from February 2020 to March 2023. During this period, these funds were utilized for various purposes such as the cost of projects, events, seminars, rent, traveling expenses, and other operational expenses. The remaining 10% of the funds donated by the public were also used for these purposes.

Medi Foundation did not prioritize funding; instead, it focused on being actively involved in public and community projects and collaborations with government and non-government organizations. Over the three years, Medi Foundation has grown and made an impact both in the nation and within the UK Turkish Cypriot Community.

As Medi Foundation expands and takes on more projects and offices in 2023, it will require much more additional funds. We estimate that from every £100 of donations, funding, and sponsorships received until at least March 2024, 70% – 73% will be allocated towards public projects, while the remaining 27% – 30% will cover the running costs of Medi Foundation.

We plan to raise funds through various means, including hosting events, advertising and promoting Medi Foundation’s projects and needs, accepting online donations, accepting donations at events, running membership campaigns, and selling branded clothing and hats. Additionally, we plan to seek outside funding from government and non-government organizations, local and national businesses, as well as international funding and donations.
