The Medi Foundation, in collaboration with The Turkish Republic of North Cyprus and The Prime Ministry’s
Anti Drugs Commission has taken the initiative of developing an innovative relief center to walk hand in
hand with those in need and actively participate in their struggle.
The relief center is about getting closer to the triggers of alcoholism in order to increase the awareness and
prevention effectiveness. It is about accompanying the youth in their inevitable discovery of alcohol and
acting as a friendly guide and mentor. The aim of Medi Foundation, in this first of it’s kind initiative, is to act
several steps ahead by positioning itself at the heart of the problem in order to become a mindful solution.
A first prototype is to be implanted in the city of Famagusta with the collaboration of several governmental
bodies that will assit in the operating of the center. The staff will be composed of professionals and certified
volunteers who share the same ideologies as Medi Foundation. It will composed of two nurses, a security
guard, a therapist and a cook.

The relief center will be composed of:
A- A lobby/waiting area
Access to the relief center will be reserved to the members of Medi Foundation and their references. A
mandatory sign-in and/or form filling will be required of all visitors.
B- A nurse station
Two nurses will be in charge of check-ins and administering the required help required by the patients in the
recovery pods.
C- Five recuperation pods
Each recuperation pod will be equipped with the necessary first aid medical equipments to administer any
necessary aid. They will also have automated medical chairs capable of adjusting to the needed positions.
D- A soup and detox kitchen
A small fully equipped kitchen capable of handle soups of the day and fresh detox juices which will be
served either to the outdoor plaza through the pick-up window or to the inside of the center via the coun-
ter.
E- An early hour therapy office
The therapy office will operate both on schedule and on impromptu visits. MF members will benefit from
free counseling and follow-up. It will also be used to evaluate potential beneficiaries, non-members, of the
center’s free services.

F- An outdoor detox plaza
An outdoor open semi open space that can be used by MF members for various activities.
G- A security held entrance
Access to the center will be monitored and organized by a security guard capable of handle various situa-
tions that might be presented. Due to the nature of the night environment, a second security guard might
be required upon request.

The objective of Medi Foundation through the relief center is to be able to bring an on-the-spot help
and relief to the people who are or might be on the verge of alcoholism in order to be positioned at a
crucial stage in their upcoming decisions.
Many studies show that a high percentage of alcoholics could have been steered off of alcoholism if
only they have had a minimal support and guidance.

Medi Foundation, through it’s extensive collaborations and connections will be a helping pillar to
its members in various matters that it deems are strong triggers in a member’s alcoholism. From
mentoring to financial aid, the MF commitment is unshakable with a sturdy devotion to its mem-
bers and to the cause.
The Famagusta Relief Center will be the first of many centers spreading across Northern Cyprus in
order to bring guidance and support to a larger population. One more step, among many, that the
Medi Foundation will take to effectuate its dedication to the Cypriot community as a whole.
